WhatsApp Plans To Increase Its User Base to 1 Billion

We have all about the $19 billion takeover of WhatsApp by Facebook. A lot of us are not sure what will be the fate of our beloved app now. If you are one of those people, then you can give your apprehensions a little bit of rest.

The messaging app is gunning to increase it active user base to 1 billion from the current 500 million in a year. While conversing with of young Indian entrepreneurs as part of a NASSCOM initiative, Neeraj Arora even shared that everything about the company remains almost same even after the take over.

In India, WhatsApp now has 50 million active users in India. It is noteworthy that about a fortnight ago, WhatsApp had shared that it has crossed 48 million monthly active users in the country.

The reason for the growing popularity of WhatsApp in India is the data bundles that various telecom operators are offering.

In the recent past, there are many messages apps that have been introduced. Some of them such as Line and WeChat are aggressively advertising in India. WhatsApp on the other hand has refrained for advertising so far. [PTI]
